Monasterboice Parish is located just a few kilometres north of Drogheda, Co. Louth, Ireland.
It is most famous for its connection to the ancient monastic site (Mainistir Bhuithe) founded by Saint Buithe in the 5th Century.
Today, the parish is made up of around 500 Catholic families worshipping in two Churches; The Church of the Immaculate Conception, Tenure (1894); and The Church of the Nativity of Our Lady, Fieldstown (1868).
Two Catholic schools; NS Naomh Buite, Tenure and NS Naomh Padraig, Harestown, are within the parish boundaries, and serve the educational needs of over 400 children from the area.
The Parish is within the Archdiocese of Armagh, and part of the St. Columcille’s Pastoral Area;
The Very Rev. Patrick Rushe is the Parish Priest, appointed from 1st September 2019. Fr. Paddy – in conjunction with the members of the Parish Pastoral Council – serves the pastoral needs of the Parish.
In September 2023, Fr. Paddy was also appointed as Administrator of neighbouring Togher Parish
In December 2023, Fr. Akaninyene Ekpe, MSP., joined the parish team working jointly between Monasterboice and Togher. Fr. Akan is from Nigeria, and will be here for at least three years.
The parish has TWO weekend Masses;
Church of the Nativity of Our Lady, Fieldstown – Sunday Morning 9.45am
Church of the Immaculate Conception, Tenure – Sunday Morning 11.30am
The Pastoral Area has NINE Masses in total, including;
6.15pm Saturday evening in St. Borchill’s, Togher Parish;
7.30pm Saturday evening in The Church of The Immaculate Conception, Termonfechin;
9.15am in The Church of The Assumption, Sandpit, Termonfechin Parish;
10am, in St. Colmcille’s, Togher;
10.45am in Ss Peter & Paul, Walshestown, Clogherhead Parish;
11.30am St. Finian’s, Dillonstown, Togher Parish;
12noon, St. Michael’s Clogherhead)
Additional Masses/other liturgies may be arranged (eg For Lent/Easter/Advent)

Confessions are available after any Mass, and at any time upon request.
