Special Evening Mass for Exam Intentions – June 8th and 15th

Many of our young people are taking part in State Examinations at this time. Please know that at every Mass in the Parish we will remember the students, their families and all involved in the exams.

However, we have been approached by some parents asking for some extra support – to that end, the EVENING Mass on SATURDAY 8th June at 6.15pm in St. Borchill’s Church, Dysart and the 6.30pm Mass in The Church of The Immaculate Conception, Tenure will be offered especially for Exam Intentions. This intention will be repeated at the 6.15pm Mass in St. Borchill’s Dysart on Saturday 15th & 23rd June (Please note, there will be no Vigil Mass in The Church of The Immaculate Conception, Tenure after the 8th – see here for more information)

Students, their families, and parishioners are invited to place the names of those they are praying for in the basket which is before the Altar. These intentions will be included in the Mass, and the prayer for exams will be recited, for scripture tells us; “Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.”‬‬‬‬‬‬ Philippians‬ 4:6

Exam Prayer
Lord, I know you are with me and love me.
Give me peace of mind as I prepare for this time of study.
Help me to focus on my books and notes.
Keep me from all distractions so that I will make
the best use of this time that is available to me.
Give me insight that I might understand what I am studying,
and help me to remember it when the time comes.
Above all, I thank you for the ability to be able to study
and for the many gifts and talents you have given me.
Help me always to use them in such a way
that they honour you and do justice to myself. Amen

Irrespective of how the exams go, please know that an exam result doesn’t define who you are! If it goes badly, then there are always other options and life doesn’t stop; there is always hope! It’s not the end of the world if the exams don’t go as well as expected or hoped for. It’s important not to panic too much but to speak with loved ones, seek advice and support so that in time you can see the bigger picture.

As a follower of Jesus, this is a word from Scripture which can help in times of stress, both exam related and in the everyday. “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” Jeremiah‬ 29:11

Blessings on your exams!
